How to use this website

Using Maps

Map Search
From the home page, you are able to search for sectors by typing in a sector number or by, selecting a region, selecting a country or clicking the Search tab. If you are looking for sectors in an area where you do not know the sector number or other information, the map tools allow you to use a map to select areas within which you can search for sectors.

By using the tools illustrated below, you can interact with maps and look for sectors. The following tools are available in the map window:

 Zoom In
The "zoom in" tool allows you to zoom inward on the map. It works by either: a) clicking once on the map to zoom in at the point where you clicked, or b) allowing you to draw a rectangle that represents the area where you want to zoom inward.

To draw a rectangle, move the mouse pointer over the map. Then left-click and hold the left mouse button to begin drawing the rectangle. Continue moving the mouse outward from the point where you clicked and the rectangle will expand. When the rectangle covers the area where you want to zoom inward, release the left mouse button. The map will then zoom in and redraw the area you designated.

 Zoom Out
The "zoom out" tool allows you to zoom outward from the map. It works by either: a) clicking once on the map to zoom out at the point where you clicked, or b) allowing you to draw a rectangle that represents the area where you want to zoom outward.

To draw a rectangle, move the mouse pointer over the map. Then left-click and hold the left mouse button to begin drawing the rectangle. Continue moving the mouse outward from the point where you clicked and the rectangle will expand. When the rectangle covers the area where you want to zoom outward, release the left mouse button.  The map will then zoom out and redraw the area you designated.

 Pan (Recenter Map)
The "pan" tool allows you to recenter the map at a point where you click. To use the tool, move the mouse pointer over the map to a spot that you want to locate in the center of the map. Then click once using the left mouse button. The map will redraw with the area you clicked at the center. You can move the map in any direction by clicking near any map edge to establish it as the new map center.

 Select by Point
The "select by point" tool allows you to query the map for sectors located in the area where you clicked on the map.

To use this tool, move the mouse pointer over the map. Then click once over a sector about which you wish to obtain information. The application will draw a blue rectangle covering the sector(s) you clicked on and display some summary information in the "Search Results" panel to the right of the map. If sectors are found, the number of sectors found will be displayed. If no sectors are found, a message will appear asking you to try again.

 Select by Rectangle
The "select by rectangle" tool allows you to query the map for sectors located within an area you define on the map by drawing a rectangle.

To use this tool, move the mouse pointer over the map. Then left-click and hold the left mouse button to begin drawing the rectangle. Continue moving the mouse outward from the point you clicked and the rectangle will expand. When the rectangle covers the area within which you want to search, release the left mouse button. The application will outline the sectors located in that area. The results of this search are displayed in the "Search Results" panel to the right of the map. If sectors are found, the number of sectors found will be displayed, along with links to the "sector overview" report for each sector found. There is also a link to view a "sector comparison" report showing the barrier and ministry indices for all sectors found. If no sectors are found, a message will appear asking you to try again.
